Careworks NSW is an initiative of fresh hope and operates for the direct relief of poverty, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness in the community (benevolent relief).
The aim: "To serve into and support local churches, ministries and people across Churches of Christ in NSW to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to individuals, families and the wider community".
Careworks NSW forms partnership projects with local churches and groups that want to undertake relevant and sustainable community based projects. We therefore form the auspicing body and conduit for these projects to seek and receive government funding and provide a legal framework for them to operate within.
In partnership with Careworks NSW, local churches operate a wide range of grassroots community projects which include:
> a refuge for young women at risk
> foodshare programs
> community sheds and cafes
> drop-in centres
> chaplains for those with mental health issues.
Careworks also provides chaplaincies for hospitals, aged care, schools and communities affected by natural disasters.
