Green Hills Residential Care Service held a Remembrance Day service on 11 November—a poignant and heartfelt occasion, bringing together residents, staff, and families to honour the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women. The memorial lawn was beautifully adorned with poppies, creating a serene and reflective space for the ceremony.
Shannon Fitzgerald, Manager of Residential Services, opened the service by sharing the history of Armistice Day and the significance of Remembrance Day. Chaplain Jeni then led a meaningful reflection, drawing a thoughtful connection between the sacrifices of our soldiers and the spirit of selflessness seen in Christ’s sacrifice. Wendy, Meaningful Engagement Lead at Green Hills, concluded the service with a heartfelt message on the blessings of living in Australia and the gratitude we owe to those who have served to protect our freedoms.
The ceremony featured some of the residents; Ron reciting the Ode, followed by a moving rendition of “The Lord is My Shepherd” by John and Paddy. Finally, Win and Shannon laid the wreath in a touching tribute. It was a solemn yet hopeful gathering, filled with moments of connection, gratitude, and inspiration.
