Fresh Hope Communities celebrates ‘topping out’ of new Green Hills Residential Care Service

24 Feb, 2023

Celebrations were in order on Thursday 23rd February as the Fresh Hope Communities team joined Richard Crookes Construction, ICON Project Management and Caulderflower Architects for a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony to celebrate the new Green Hills Residential Care Service structural completion.

“The final major concrete slab has been poured at the Green Hills Residential Care Service in East Maitland. Requiring over 270m3 of concrete and 60 tonnes of reinforced steel, this achievement marks the completion of a major project milestone,” said a representative from Richard Crookes Construction.

“Fresh Hope Communities exists to cultivate belonging. So it is actually fitting that even before the doors of this development is open to the community, our residents and families, that with the setting of these foundations, we begin with creating a sense of community and celebration.” Said Dan Dwyer, CEO of Fresh Hope Communities.

This multi-level residential care service is set to be completed later this year and will bring an innovative and integrated community living experience for residents and their families including a memory support household wing, communal spaces and wellness centre, respite care service and holistic care for residents that prioritises health, wellbeing and community for ageing in place.

Originating in Scandinavia, the ‘topping out ceremony’ is a celebration of the final beam being placed in the final stage of the construction of a building and involves the gathering of all those who have laboured and invested into a project to come together and celebrate what has been achieved.

Dan Dwyer, CEO further shared at the celebration, “On behalf of the Fresh Hope Communities board and staff team, we would like to extend our thanks to our residents and our neighbours who have been so gracious and patient as we develop this landmark service to the Hunter Region. It is our collective intention that we, as Fresh Hope Communities, create spaces and places that feel like home for our residents; places where our residents feel like they belong in a community they know and love.”
