God creates each human with a purpose to fulfil during our time here on Earth (Jer 29:11). This purpose is not an average or small one but something beyond our wildest dreams.
Thankfully, God is a generous father and gives us many tools that help us discover and fulfil this purpose. One of the main tools is our human body; an amazing gift from God.
The bible talks at several points about being a good steward (someone who manages another’s property.) Your body is an item of value that you have been given, the Lord asks you to faithfully protect and manage it.
Your body can be a great and useful tool but it can also be one that causes limitation when it isn’t functioning correctly.
God desires for each of us to live in health. Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and God asks that we honour Him with them. (1 Cor 6:19)
In a time poor world, it an be difficult to make time to take care of our health, however this is exactly what we are called to do.
You may be overwhelmed and not know how to make a change in this area but it is possible if you understand this;
> The goal is health
> It’s not a quick fix, it’s a lifestyle change
> Ultimately the change is up to you
> The body you have been blessed with is unique. You do not have to look like anyone else.
There are many tools to help you reach your goals and see great change in the area of your health. If you are wondering where to begin then identifying one of these areas to start on may be helpful;
> Bring balance to your life – too much or not enough of anything can be dangerous.
> Manage your mind set – what do you believe about yourself and your health?
> What is your Lifestyle like? Do you endure stress & sleep deprivation? Are you physically active? Is your food & nutrition balanced?
Your journey to physical vitality might start simply by:
– Adding a 20 – 30mins walk or moderate activity to your day
– Including fruit or vegetables with every meal and reverting to them first for snacks
– Heading to bed 1 hour earlier each night
– Drinking a minimum of 2L (8 glasses) of water a day.
– Lowering your caffeine intake (aim for Max. 1 per day)
– Taking a lunch break and being mindful at the times you eat.
– Prioritising something that you enjoy to help you de-stress.
Life is too short to spend time suffering the symptoms of poor health. These small steps are simple and sustainable. You can start this journey today and see an improvement before you know it.
