On 16 November 2015 in the NSW country town of Albury, The River Community Church’s River Project opened the doors of our long awaited café, ‘Cocoa Collective.’
As I write, I sit in the café opposite a customer who has been in twice already and has complimented us on how smooth our coffee is — for those who frequent cafés, you know how vital good coffee is. We’re grateful for the positive feedback.
As a community of believers we know how important it is to serve the community. The café operates as a crossover point between the secular and church community. We have already seen a number of people come in and begin a conversation that has resulted in them being prayed for and 2 people have already come along to church after being invited by our newly appointed Community Services Pastor, David Rees.
The café has employed a Barista, Ella Jane Rau and has a pool of volunteers that is growing by the day.
Our aim is to become involved with training organisations and giving people an opportunity to gain skills and move into the workforce.
We are most thankful for the support given by members of the congregation and Careworks.
David Rees has stepped out in faith to be involved in overseeing the café and to date is enjoying the ride!
We look forward to what God will do in the lives of all who come through the doors at Cocoa Collective.
