Safe Church Training

Fresh Hope is committed to supporting safe people and safe environments across the Fresh Hope family. We are now in partnership with the NSW/ACT Baptist Association to deliver the Creating Safe Spaces – Safe

Church training program.

Creating Safe Spaces is an excellent safe church training program, complying with all current NSW/ACT legislation, and recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Endorsed ministers and SRE teachers must complete safe church training every three years, however, we strongly encourage all youth and children’s volunteers, plus board members and elders to complete this training also.

We encourage each local church in NSW and the ACT to host a workshop every three years (as a minimum). The minimum number of people to host a workshop is 20 people. The course is completed in a two-stage process:

  1. An online Creating Safe Spaces component. This component can be completed in one sitting, or over several stages. It is the knowledge base that our people need to understand. The online component costs $10 per person. Register here for the online component.

  2. A face-to-face Creating Safe Spaces workshop. This is a 3-hour workshop, where people have an opportunity to learn further and discuss their learnings from the online component. The workshop is $25 per person. There is an additional 30-minute section for church eldership/board members and policymakers. You can organise a workshop by filling in the form here.
