Cedar Residents Relishing their Garden Club Produce

3 Mar, 2025

The green thumbs of Cedar of Collins have been cultivating some fantastic produce over the summer and residents are now able to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

10 residents who are active participants in the Garden Club have been planting and tending to tomato plants, capsicums, eggplants, cucumbers, zucchinis, carrots herbs and even an olive tree.

The rooftop terrace, home to the planted gardens, have by all accounts had a bumper summer. Especially the tomatoes.

Graham, resident at Cedar sent out an email asking if someone wanted to make tomato relish with the abundance of tomatoes. Helen responded and decided to give it a go, even though she had never made relish before. She said she was keen to use her thermomix and found a suitable recipe for tomato chutney. The result?  Several jars of the delicious chutney were made available for residents to enjoy.

The Garden Club has not only been an invaluable point of social interaction and connection for this new community, but residents also can reap the wellbeing benefits that gardening provides—hand strengthening, stress reduction, increase in vitamin D levels, mood boosting and of course, healthy eating.

We look forward to seeing what this Garden Club produces next season.
