To celebrate National Volunteers Week, Clelland Lodge recently held a morning tea for the wonderful volunteers that give so much to the residents and staff at Clelland Lodge.
Attendees included Wellbeing and Chaplaincy volunteers with Clelland Lodge staff representatives Michael Smith (MRS), Shauna Gill (Clinical Support) and Rachel Noble (Care Manager). Organised by Zelpha Bevan (Chaplain) and Di Mathot (Wellbeing Facilitator) the occasion afforded staff and residents the opportunity to thank their volunteers and celebrate the importance of their support to the wellbeing of residents and the support of the Clelland Lodge teams. All volunteers received a certificate, chocolates and enjoyed a delicious (very early) morning tea complete with cake!
Di shared, “The volunteers who attended included Bernadette, Jenny, Carol, Joanne, Barry, Nick and Nola. Some of them have been with our organisation for over 10 years in different capacities, and some have just started. We extend our heartfelt thank you to all of them.”
When asked why they volunteer, one of the volunteers, Carol, said that she identified with the residents. She would regularly drop off her crocheting for the residents and when Di asked her whether she’d consider becoming a volunteer because she was such a consistent visitor, she agreed.
Nick, another volunteer at Clelland said he just wants to give something back in community service.
Congratulations and thank you to all our volunteers doing important work across Fresh Hope Communities.
