There was much anticipation for Father’s Day at Borella House with an invitation to all the male residents to attend a special ‘Show and Tell’ celebration, with remote control cars ‘zooming in’ for the day.
Dustin, husband of one of Borella’s staff, brought in a range of remote-control cars that captivated the residents. They were able to take turns driving them around, picking up chocolates from one end of the room to the other and were so enthralled with the experience, it appeared that many were reliving their boyhood dreams.
A delicious afternoon tea included cake frosted with blue icing, sausage rolls, mini quiches, biscuits and beverages, however most of the residents were far more interested in the cars than the food!
Borella House’s Residential Care Manager Nicole shared, ”the day was developed specially for Father’s Day. The men were very interested in seeing the remote-control cars and were very attentive to what Dustin was telling them. We try and develop a special day for the men on Father’s Day in line with hobbies or careers that the men may have had an interest in.”
