Safe Ministry Training

We aim to resource all our churches and agencies with effective solutions to minimise harm, promote healthy culture and prioritise safe environments.

At Fresh Hope we actively engage in pursuing best practice regarding safe ministry.

We are a member of the Safe Church Training Agreement  that facilitates quality, sustainable, accessible safe church workshops for local leaders, both paid and volunteer.

Creating safe spaces

Through an agreement with the NSW/ACT Baptist Association the Creating Safe Spaces’ training program is delivered across all of our ministries. This program includes online content and a three-hour face-to-face workshop and cover topics such as:

  • duty of care
  • understanding power and authority and the potential for their misuse
  • understanding and identifying various forms of abuse
  • reporting requirements relating to child abuse
  • responding to abuse of vulnerable adults
  • safe church practices, risk assessments and reporting.

We recommend that every minister, children’s worker, youth worker, elder, board member and staff member complete Creating Safe Spaces every three years. More information can be found on the Creating Safe Spaces website.
