The new Green Hills Residential Care Service hosted its first ANZAC Day service in the beautifully landscaped outdoor space.
With a significant number of residents attending, it was wonderful to activate the space for the large event.
Shannon Fitzgerald, Manager of Residential Services at Green Hills said, “The service provided a great opportunity for our collective reflection, remembrance, and gratitude towards those who have served in the defence of Australia’s and New Zealand’s freedom and democracy.”
Several residents participated in the moving service. Belinda hosted, while Ron read ‘In Flanders Fields’, Ted Lachmund did a reading for the Fallen, Judith read ‘The Ode of Remembrance’ and Kevin Reynolds, laid the wreath. Emily one of Green Hills Care Partners, played the ‘Last Post’ on the bugle and Chaplain, Jenny, lead the gathering in prayer.
The morning of reflection and remembrance closed with a lovely morning tea for all the residents and staff.
Coming together at times like this serve as an opportunity to share stories and reflections that foster connection and community.
A big thank you to all the staff and residents who made it possible including: Megan, Belinda, Jeni, Emily, Tracy, Ron, Ted, Judith, and Kevin.
