On Wednesday 14th August the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Sydney District Council and Fresh Hope Communities hosted a morning tea and an exclusive tour of Nightingale Marrickville, one of the 2024 ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence Winner.
Founded in 1936, The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is an international, membership-based non-profit research and education organisation whose mission is to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.
The ULI event at Nightingale Marrickville provided the opportunity for architects, financiers and other not-for-profits and charities like Fresh Hope Communities to come together and learn about the project from development all the way to present day.
Belinda Bentley emceed the event. She is a familiar face to Fresh Hope Communities, and the Founding Director of 9Springs and appointed member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Asia Pacific Housing Council and is a Jury Member of the ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence. She welcomed the guests and handed over to Dan Dwyer, CEO Fresh Hope Communities, who shared a short presentation on the journey to get Nightingale Marrickville where it is today. Following this Dave Tolman, General Manager of Group Accommodation & Housing, shared some stories about how the residents are settling in, building community and finding home.
After a short Q&A the attendees were then taken on a tour of the site—through the shared spaces, around the building and into two vacant resident apartments.
Both the tours and the event received a warm reception and all those in attendance were encourage by the story of Nightingale Marrickville and what we, and ULI hope, has the potential to be a replicable model for many other accommodation providers into the future.
