Nightingale Marrickville wins ULI Asia Pacific Award for Excellence

30 May, 2024

A few weeks ago, Nightingale Marrickville was shortlisted as one of 23 finalists in the ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence, one of the real estate industry’s most prestigious honours.

There were 12 eventual winners and we are thrilled to announce that Nightingale Marrickville was recognised as one of them from across the Asia Pacific region. This is a huge achievement for us at Fresh Hope Communities and one worth celebrating!

The winners were announced at the ULI Asia Pacific Summit held in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday 29 May, with the award received on our behalf by Andrew Coward, the Chair of the ULI Sydney District Council.

Founded in 1936, The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is an international, membership-based nonprofit research and education organisation whose mission is to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.

The ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence recognise the full development process of a project, not just its architecture or design—although these elements play an important role. Awards recognise both development projects and programmes. For projects, Awards recognise a wide variety of product types, including office, residential, retail, industrial, hotel, mixed use, planned community, open space, and more. Programmes are initiatives, processes, or policies that guide or enhance development.

The 13-member jury evaluate the projects and programmes on the extent to which they:

  • Achieve marketplace acceptance/financial success;
  • Achieve a high standard of excellence across a range of disciplines—architecture, design, planning, construction, resiliency, economics, management, etc.;
  • Have a positive impact on communities and/or immediate context;
  • Are environmentally sustainable and/or resilient;
  • Provide a model or strategy that can be replicated in other projects or communities.

Part of the adjudication process involved taking members of the jury panel on a tour of Nightingale Marrickville.

Sam Buckerfield, GM for Corporate Communications who hosted judge Belinda Bentley on the tour said, “Our judge Belinda, was extremely impressed by the final outcome of Nightingale Marrickville— not only the beautiful built form, but the stories that our new residents have shared with us about how they came to live at Nightingale Marrickville. She’s hopeful that we and other organisations like us will be able to provide similar developments long into the future.”

Winning this award automatically qualifies Nightingale Marrickville for entry into the 2024 ULI Global Awards for Excellence which will be announced in October 2024.

Big congratulations to all involved in helping Nightingale Marrickville become a realisation.
